Naval War Memorial - Portsmouth

This stone tribute with cast iron inscriptions holds the names of 24654 Royal Naval personnel who gave their lives in the first and second world wars.

The obelisk sits atop a plinth and is guarded by four lions. Around the base of the obelisk are the names of those lost at sea during the First World War while those of the Second World War are remembered in panels on walls to the rear of the obelisk.

The obelisk element of the memorial is identical in design to one’s in Plymouth and Chatham.
